STN Patent Forum in Utrecht
Op 30 september organiseert Cobidoc samen met STN FIZ-Karlsruhe het STN Patent Forum. Dit jaar zal het forum plaats vinden in de Hoog Brabant zalen in Utrecht. Deelname aan dit forum is gratis, maar u dient zich wel van te voren in te schrijven. Dit kunt u hier doen.

Understanding First-Level and Value-Added Patent Databases on STN (Rob Austin - FIZ Karlsruhe)
For all patent searches with high commercial relevance, it is essential to search all value-added patent databases and complement the results with first-level patent data.
This presentation covers the results of a case study from the pharmaceutical field which directly compares the search results of first level and value-added databases. The analysis clearly demonstrates that the unique patent information of DWPI and the CAS suite of files is indispensible for any business critical search requests.

The DWPI Editorial Process - How we add value to our patent data (Brian Larner - Thomson Reuters)
This presentation will consist of a brief summary of the main value added features of the DWPI database and a description of editorial processes which creates them. The main points covered will be bibliographic data clean up, the Derwent patent family, how the abstract is produced and how the classification and DWPI manual codes are applied.

Op 1 oktober organiseert Cobidoc samen met de SIG-CI (Special Interest Group - Chemical Information) een STN AnaVist middag. Het programma ziet er als volgt uit:
13:30 uur: Koffie, thee
14.00 uur: COBIDOC: inleiding
14.30 uur: Floris Parlevliet (Albemarle Catalysts): labels, visualisatie buiten AnaVist en "pitfalls"
15.00 uur: Ruud Nagelkerke (Philips Research): vergelijking tussen TDA (Thomson Data Analyzer) en STN AnaVist
15.30 uur: vragen stellen en zelf oefenen

Database nieuws
EPFULL SLART toegevoegd
In de EPFULL database was SLART (simultaneous left and right truncation) al beschikbaar in het BI (Basic Index) en CLM (Claim) veld. Nu is SLART ook bruikbaar in de volgende velden:
AB (Abstract)
MCLM (Main Claim)
TI (Title)
IMSCOPROFILE
De IMSCOPROFILE database (IMS Company Profiles) wordt nu maandelijks herladen. SDI's zijn in deze database niet beschikbaar.
NUTRACEUT, PHARMAML
De databases NUTRACEUT en PHARMAML zullen niet langer worden bijgewerkt op STN, omdat de databaseproducent hiermee gestopt is. Beide databases zullen voorlopig als statische databases beschikbaar blijven.
